It's been a long time!

Hello there!

It has been such a long time since I've written...anything!  So forgive me for my very long absence, life kind of has a tendency to get in the way.  I really enjoy the process and taking the time to sit down and get my thoughts and feelings down on paper is really an important tool for me, both as a Mom and just as a human being in general. So my goal is to try and write more often on here. My topics will be family oriented most of the time since that is what I spend the majority of my time doing but once in a while I will try to have something profound to share with you all. I will as usual share family photos and try to keep you all updated on the kiddos and our family adventures as well.

This last year has definitely been our busiest yet! Isaac turned 3 in June and Ellie turned 1 in May.  We had a great time celebrating their birthdays with a combo party in June.  No big vacations planned this year but we did have a get away in May with our extended family to the coast which was fantastic!  Later this summer we will be taking another quick getaway to Pinecrest for some relaxing at one of their cabins by the lake.  Isaac will get to go to his first Giants game in a few weeks and Ellie will spend time with her Auntie in SF while we have fun at the ballpark.
In September Isaac will begin his first year of Preschool.  It's hard to believe he is already old enough to start school, even if it is only two mornings a week!  I am very excited for him and for my little girl also, she can get in some time with her Mommy without having to share me with her very demanding older brother.

Since Isaac was born I have been amazed at how quickly he seems to grow and develop and now with two little ones 3 and under it has only magnified this for me.  I marvel and most days am in awe of this awesome responsibility I have been given; to help nurture and mold these two little miracles into the amazing young adults I know they someday will be.  I am hopeful that my reflections here will not only keep you updated on all our adventures but also perhaps put a smile on your face or on some days perhaps a knowing sigh. I look forward to sharing it all with you.  Until next time!

Surgery

At 8.5 months Isaac finally had his Hypospadias surgery! He handled it like a champ and is recovering now at home. It was much scarier for his Mommy and Daddy! We are so thankful and blessed that everything went smoothly and the pediatric urologist was very pleased with the results. We go back for his post op apointment this Thursday the 15th to remove his bandage and receive instruction on how to clean etc until he is all healed up! Thanks to everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers. Here are some pics from the day.

Broken Hearted

DEEP BREATH....more tears. This week started like most others, kiddo craziness, summer colds, a nice last minute visit with my parents. All pretty "norm" for us. Then Wednesday morning that all changed. Let me back up a little bit...Most of you that know me even a little are aware that we have three children, two here with us and one waiting for us in heaven. The first year after losing our son Ethan was the hardest year of my life. The grief was all consuming and literally left me without the ability to breathe on a daily basis. Besides my immediate and church family, one of my best resources was my grief support group for parents who lost a child. One of the first mom's I connected with in group is truly one of the sweetest women I have ever met. Her name is Janice.  She is a wonderful listener, quiet but so kind and compassionate. We soon discovered that our beautiful boys were buried only a few markers apart in the baby garden which was really special for me. ...

Our First Christmas!

Our first Christmas with Isaac is finally here! I have always loved this time of year for many reasons but this year is by far the most special as we are celebrating our first Christmas as a family of 3! I have waited for so long for the day we finally got to take our family Christmas photos and today we did!! I am filled with joy and anticipation for all the season has to bring us. I hope everyone can stop for just a moment during all the craziness to truly appreciate all that you have. We have spent many Christmas aching for what we did not have, now we are going to take in every moment and drink it all in! God Bless you and your families this Christmas. With Love, Mama Mishler
